To The Ends Of The Earth

Later today I'll be heading down to Moab for RAWROD 2009.

(Don't know what I'm talking about? Read about RAWROD 2008.)

I feel like my fitness is not as good as last year so I have concerns. And I still have some packing and bike maintenance to do so I don't feel ready. But I've done this ride before which consoles me that I should be able to finish the 100 dirt miles. What a crazy way to kick-off the cycling season, huh? Crazy good.

This year you'll be on your 29er which will make up for your percieved lack of fitness. You should have saw how many times last weekend Steve and I rolled away from Ken on his kiddie wheels. Ken was actually getting a little upset about it:)

I've been leaning toward the full suspension Prophet (26" wheels) for the ride comfort, but I the lighter weight and better sand handling of the hard tail 29er are compelling. The Prophet has been having some weird ghost shifting issues so maybe I will go for the 29er. Can my back and butt take it?

Your back won't be a problem cause you'll be stopping a decent amount. I don't know if full suspention will help a butt w/o a lot of saddle time. Maybe two shorts ala STP?
