Video: Fall Moab - Fruita

I didn't get the best footage, but here's what I did with it:

I was amazed Bob tried the rock drop on a fully rigid bike. And he almost landed it.

I enjoyed watching the guys try stuff over and over. Like a playground.

Laid-back mood for every ride. No hurry, even though all these guys are fast. Regrouped frequently. Help with mechanicals. Encouragement to try stunts, but no pressure. Just a good time out with the boys.

wait, first time i didn't notice the kindly hand a nonchalant kenny extends to bob after he turfs it. that was awesome.

kind of like, "i don't want to make a big deal out of this if you're not hurt, but if you are hurt, um, i'm here for you."

nice.

Dang, did you film only the hard parts or what? Cause if it's all like that, I might as well just not bring a bike and hike the whole thing!

ha, great video though.

Cool video! Seemed like Bob was your main subject.

Haven't been to Moab or Fruita in a couple of years to really ride but it seems like 26" wheels would be more nimble than 29ers. In some of those shots, pulling the front end of 29ers up ledges looked like more work than pulling 26ers.

dug - Insightful comments. You were missed on Friday. I dare say anyone who knows Kenny even a little recognizes he's a good guy you can trust.

Jay - That's what I meant when I said I didn't get the best footage. See, I'm not fast so I was always in the back. About the only opportunity I had to film was when the group stopped for play time on a stunt. There's plenty of easy and intermediate riding in Fruita. Kokopelli is pretty moderate (except for Moore Fun), so is the 18 Road area. The Tabeguache area is more difficult but still has plenty of mellow-ish riding.

mtb w - I didn't single out Bob, he was just having fun hitting those obstacles over and over. Look at his smiles - he was almost giddy.

The guys on 26" FS bikes were doing well, but I don't think 29" wheels are at a disadvantage in Fruita. For all the ledges and rough stuff I liked the big wheels - they give me confidence. There is some tight stuff there that may favor the shorter wheel base of a 26" bike. I enjoyed myself on my HT 29er, but at times I wished I'd brought my 26" FS bike.

Nice video work Kris.

I thought you had Ryan on video going off the rock.

I didn't realise Bob had tried those moves so many time - Kudos to Bob though as he made most of them - where as i gove up after one or two attempts.

I arrived just in time to watch Ryan go off the rock. I didn't have time to get out my camera. Elden videoed it so we'll see it soon.

Awesome video Kris. Love that area.

I had to go to the ER in Moab last September when I thought I broke both hands in a crash. Can't wait to get back there.

Nice video. I was glad I was on my single 29er rig for the ride and not my Carbon FS Scott. I would have destroyed the carbon frame with all the rocks.

I'm impressed at your humility about being one of the "core" team.
You are truly among the glitterati.
Looks like an awesome trip. I hear Fruita calling my name.
